Giant Fantic 9
This weekend was dedicated to warhammer. The yearly tounament Gian Fanatic started friday and ended yesterday (sunday). This is the time of the year where I dust off the faithfull soldiers of the empire and try to look as it hasn't been a year since my last game.

The first game - all dreams and hopes still intact. everything is still possible - I could win the tournamant - strange things has happend before...or something :)
I was to fight against chaos (in more than one way)
My opponent didn't turn up, and had instead send a friend, who hadn't played warhammer for 2 years. He had of course not choosen the army or packed the bags either, wich turned out to be crucial, as he could not find his 400 point of allied forces, and oversaw a chariot on the armyroster....
My victory didn't impress anyone, with the opponent only fielding half an army.

Second game.
Khemri.
An old enemy - we have played before. Always a pleasent experience.
It was a fun game, though I quickly lost all chances of standing victorious in the end.
Those khemri-scorpions are soo cruel!

Third game.
Lizards.
And no big fat toad dominating all magic. In fact he only had brought one lvl 1 skink shaman, who lost his only spell to my seal of destruction in turn 1...hehe.
Even though several good things happend during the game - a unit sauri with the general and battlestandard in it, was charged in the flank by my 20 spearmen with Griffonbanner, and was forced to flee... but of course they rallied later on :( - it came out a draw.

Fourth game.
Dwarves.
Another surprising army - a dwarf army with only one warmachine (and a gyrocopter).
the result was another surprise. Due to the scenario things didn't just give normal victorypoints. You had to nominate 3 units which gave double points - and the rest gave only half points. I took absolutely no chances and nominated 3 of his weakest and therfore cheapest units - he, on the other hand, nominated my most expensive units. This meant that in the end he won a clear victory, even though I actualy had killed his lord. The last turn of the game, however, was a disaster. My general and his griffon, my hero and a unit of flaggelants had set up a nice trap for his longbeards, charged them in the flank and front. They performed absolutely miserable, and my general and hero fled with no chance of rallying. AAARGHH.

Fifth game.
Chaos dwarves.
Another old friend of mine. Very funny army - I think almost every single miniature in this army was converted. Impressive.
Gamewise it was no succes. I misfired all the time and lost the battle. Keypoint was when I had the chance to fire the hellblaster at a unit of bullcentaurs on rampage...short range and all. Misfire. Kaboom. Game over.

Last game.
Vampire counts - with a blood dragon vampire lord on an undead dragon.
Weird game. My opponent didn't just charge forward, but stalled behind the hill with no chance of being shot. When he finaly chose to start the fighting he took a chance, placed the undead dragon with the mounted lord next to my hellblaster in order to charge the rest of my army next turn. Now was the time for the hellblaster to proove me wrong and actually hit something. Misfire. rolling 5 meant that the other 2 barrels could still shoot...10...and a 10. 20 s5 hits :) I somehow managed not to kill the beast, but it crumbled away when its master was blasted back to hell...hehe.
That shot gave me the victory.
All in all 3 defeats, 1 draw and 2 victories didn't fullfil my hopes and dreams, but it was fun anyway :)

The masterclass painters.
GF is a great chance to see the lads and talk lots of painting. I also got the chance to meet Claus Staal known from Powerfist forum - nice guy.
Maybe I should start hanging out with these guys more often - I might learn a trick or two...

Nominated for best painted army.
These are the nominees for 'best painted army'. Mine is the second on the left side. I didn't win, but had not expected to do so either - people have seen it too many times. I do think, however, that it still was the best paintjob displayed - other armies had far more impressive conversions though.

Jesper Simonsen's dipped army - nomimated for 'best painted'

The army selected 'best painted army'.
It had some very cool stuff. The converted giant and the dragonflies were so cool, as where a chariot and some of the other things...and the swampbases were great.
still, I think the paintjob could have used at least one more highlight... Or is it just me being bitter? :)
